Research Awards from the CA DCC

UC Berkeley was recently been awarded $3.2 million across three projects by the California Department of Cannabis Control. We look forward to continuing to work alongside our growing Berkeley CRC team of faculty, staff, affiliate, and student researchers as we collectively address cannabis policy, land use, community, and environmental progress.

Unchecking the box: Overcoming barriers to meaningful consultation

This study analyzes key barriers to meaningful Tribal consultation through analysis of intergovernmental consultation policy and practice in California. We argue that these barriers trace back to asymmetrical power relations and legacies of colonial governance and exclusion, and we offer recommendations to strengthen Tribal-agency relations in cultural resource protection.

SURG x CRC Spring 2026 Symposium

Every semester, student researchers assistants help advance CRC research projects, as well as various climate and environmental projects across campus. The CRC looks forward to collaborating with the SDG Undergraduate Research Group (SURG), a group of over 40 students, to convene a symposium highlighting the research success of our SPUR, URAP, and volunteer research assistants.
